Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer Shawls are laid out on the altar rail to pray over

Started on November 1, 2006 at Bethia, the Prayer Shawl Ministry formed through a collaboration of information from two of its founding members. While waiting for a weekly bible study, Dee McGonigle shared her sister’s story of attending a new type of “circle” meeting in Texas where members, who loved to knit and crochet, made beautiful shawls which they then blessed and gave away. As she listened, Maxine Warner decided to share that she had read all about prayer shawls, had already made three and really wanted a prayer shawl ministry at Bethia. Several women there were interested, so this group organized quickly into the ministry we know it as today. “Charter” members included Maxine Warner, Dee McGonigle, Betty Jean Wright, Laura Fenner, Myrne McGonigle, Sadie Aragon, Ella Lee Crump, and Barbara Barnes.

Meetings are the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month from 10-11:00 a.m.

To date over 800 shawls have been given out and are in every US state and many foreign Countries. Come and join this wonderful group of women if you wish to share this ministry. You don’t have to know how, just the desire to learn.
